Lt. Darius Kawewhi: male childhood sexual assault survivor and CSA advocate

The Men of Voices Beyond Assault presents A Conversation with Lt. Dairius Kawewehi.  Dairius is a survivor of sexual and domestic abuse by his parents. At the age of 4, one of his teachers discovered he was being abused. At that point, Dairius was removed from his home and sent to the first of 5 foster homes. During this time, Dairius was forced to take the stand in a trial to convict his father of sexual abusing him. Between the age of 4 and 6, Dairius was part of this judicial process that resulted in his father being sent to prison until Dairius turned 21 years old. The trauma Dairius experienced from the trial was compounded by his being moved from foster home to foster home, resulting is Dairius to question his very existence. But Dairius ultimately persevered, mostly through his own determination, and now joins us as a Lt. in the US Navy, having graduated from Purdue University. This is a story of perseverance, faith, survival and ultimately...triumph!  Hosted by Craig Heiting and Lorward Choi.
